Beck "The Banjo Story" 1988 Demo Album The Banjo Story is a demo album by Beck, and as such is an unofficial release. Recorded in 1988, it is a set of lo-fi home recordings that was never released to the public, and only found circulation amongst fans on the Internet much later. Banjo Story is generally not as well-received as Beck's other albums, perhaps due to its obscurity or austere orchestration; however, it gives an insight into Beck's young songwriting and demonstrates a few of the styles that Beck would later build upon in his career. The album is largely divided between despairing, guitar-driven blues, bizarre skits, light-hearted banjo jams, such as "Let's go moon some cars", and "Bottle of Wine", and stream-of-consciousness talking blues.
