Here we go with more confusion.

This is the complete 30th Sept 1971 recording (not broadcast date) of Floyd at the Paris Theatre in London. This is not stereo but mono. It is a direct dub from the mono master (T50047) in the BBC sound archives. I have heard that there is a stereo version of this and that some versions feature 'Blues' as an additional track but this doesn't. I not a dedicated Floyd collector so I can't comment on different versions of this. All I do know is that my source for this was completely genuine and that the sound quality is absolutely superb.

I suppose the authority on early Floyd performances must be Hodges and Priston's Embryo book (Cherry Red Books). About this recording they state

' Having spoken to a BBC engineer it would seem clear that Transcription Services often made their own mixes from the original multi tracks, and that these would often differ from those broadcast at the time or held elsewhere.'

'Embryo has been omitted from most, if not all repeat airings - most probably as a consequence of the band's never having given the track a full release. In addition the band also performed an improvisation most commonly referred to as Blues, which has never been broadcast in the UK. It would appear to have been transmitted one, along with Embryo, on New York City's WNEW-FM in the mid 1970s. A transcription disc of the show was pressed at the time. Interestingly our research suggests that the BBC have retained Embryo, but no longer have the recording of Blues'.
